Cat's eye chrysoberyl

There are two very rare and particularly sought after varieties of the chrysoberyl family: cat's eye chrysoberyl and alexandrite.
Cat's eye chrysoberyl has a shimmering effect and is usually yellow green to yellow. It owes its name to the presence of inclusions in the form of numerous fine needles or empty parallel tubes. The light is then reflected on these inclusions, producing an eye effect, a thin shiny line in the center of the stone that seems to float on its surface. For the phenomenon to be visible, the stone must be cut into a cabochon.
