Chalcedony is the most important variety of polycrystalline quartz. Its grains are very fine and it can be semi-transparent to translucent; it comes in a multitude of colors. The term chalcedony alone, without any other qualifier, is reserved for a white to bluish variety. This Druze is pure white.
