Rock crystal is the colorless variety of crystalline quartz which does not contain any impurity coloring element. Hematite is a black mineral that can have a metallic luster, it is used in jewelry but since its hardness is not high it is important to protect it well.
This doublet has a flat hematite base and a randomly faceted colorless quartz top. The reflections of the facets on the hematite base give it a unique appearance!
